Barcelona 5-0 Real Madrid
Barcelona Women continued their dominance over Real Madrid, winning all 16 encounters between the two sides.
In a spectacular display, the Barca women’s team thrashed Real Madrid 5-0 in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday in Leganés, claiming the title for the fourth consecutive time.
Barcelona, who defeated Atletico Madrid 3-0 in the semifinals, stormed to a 3-0 lead in the first half of the final with goals from Caroline Graham Hansen and two from Eva Pajor. In the second half, Patri Guijarro and Alexia Putellas added to the tally, sealing the emphatic victory.
This marks the first time the two teams faced off in a final, but Barcelona continued their perfect record in women’s football against Real, winning all 16 matches across competitions.
Earlier this month, Barcelona also defeated Real Madrid 5-2 in the men’s Spanish Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia. Impressively, the Catalan club has now won both Clásicos of the season.
Since the revamped format of the women’s Spanish Super Cup in the 2019-20 season, Barcelona has lifted the trophy five times in six attempts. After achieving a historic quadruple last season, the team has taken the first step toward repeating the feat this year.
In Liga F, Barcelona has won all 16 matches so far and leads the table by 11 points ahead of Real Madrid. The team has also reached the quarterfinals of both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
