Liverpool and Everton Fined, Arne Slot Handed Two-Match Ban
Liverpool and Everton have been fined for failing to control their players during the recent Merseyside Derby. Additionally, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has been handed a two-match suspension by the Football Association (FA).

The incident occurred during the heated Premier League clash at Goodison Park two weeks ago. In the eighth minute of stoppage time, James Tarkowski’s late equalizer secured a 2-2 draw for Everton. The dramatic goal sparked chaos as Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucouré celebrated in front of Liverpool’s supporters, provoking Curtis Jones, who angrily confronted him. The situation quickly escalated into a brawl involving players from both benches.

As tensions flared, referee Michael Oliver showed red cards to both Doucouré and Jones. Slot was also sent off for using “offensive, abusive, or insulting language,” according to a statement on the league’s official website.

Initially, the league announced Slot’s two-match ban in an official statement, but the announcement was mysteriously removed an hour later. Now, the FA has formally confirmed the punishment.

Due to the suspension, Slot will be absent from the touchline for Liverpool’s Premier League matches against Newcastle United on Wednesday and Southampton on March 8. However, he will be allowed to manage from the dugout in the Champions League Round of 16 first-leg clash against PSG next Wednesday.

In addition to the ban, Slot has been fined £70,000. His assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, has also received a two-match suspension and a £7,000 fine.

Liverpool and Everton have been fined £65,000 and £50,000, respectively, for failing to control their players during the incident.

Everton will also be in action on Wednesday, taking on Brentford away from home.
