Manchester City’s Dutch defender had to undergo surgery on his foot.

Nathan Aké has gone under the knife to repair a fracture in his foot, forcing him back to the sidelines once again.

After spending over a month out due to a muscle injury, Aké made his return at the end of February. However, he managed to play only two matches before being sidelined once more.

Last Saturday, the 30-year-old defender started in City’s FA Cup fifth-round clash against Plymouth but couldn’t complete the game. Pep Guardiola was forced to substitute him at halftime due to his injury.

On Monday, Aké underwent surgery on his foot. He shared an update on social media along with a photo of himself post-surgery.

“This season has been frustrating for me. But I’ve now had successful surgery on my foot, which had been bothering me for months.”

“I’m staying positive, hoping for better days ahead. Now it’s time to rest and recover—see you soon, Cityzens. Thanks for all the support.”

Injury setbacks have kept Aké off the pitch for most of the season. So far, he has played just 10 matches in the Premier League and 18 across all competitions.
