Since Ruben Amorim took over as United’s head coach, Casemiro’s role in the squad has become increasingly uncertain. Rumors about his future at the club continue to swirl, but the midfielder believes it’s too early to discuss whether he will stay beyond this season.

“Talking about next season right now would be too soon,” Casemiro said. “I still have a year left on my contract, and there are opportunities beyond that. We have several important matches ahead, including Sunday’s game against Arsenal.”

Struggles Under Amorim

Casemiro joined United in August 2022 after a highly successful spell at Real Madrid, seeking a new challenge. He quickly became a key player in a struggling United side. However, since Erik ten Hag was replaced by Amorim last November, things have taken a turn for the worse.

It’s not just about performance—United is also looking to reduce its wage bill, and Casemiro is one of the club’s highest earners. The 32-year-old has hinted at a possible departure, saying a decision will likely come closer to the summer transfer window.

Determined to Fight for His Place

Under Amorim, Casemiro has started just seven games, but he remains hopeful of regaining a regular spot in the lineup.

“Of course, I want to play,” he stated. “But I’ve always said, and it’s part of my values, that I respect the coach and the club. Every day when I go to Carrington or Old Trafford, I give my best. If a player is happy sitting on the bench, then he doesn’t deserve to be at any club.”

“I definitely want more time on the pitch, but the final decision is up to the coach, and I fully respect that.”

Casemiro is expected to start against Arsenal on Sunday, especially with Manuel Ugarte sidelined due to injury. The Uruguayan midfielder missed the last game against Real Sociedad and is unlikely to recover in time.

United Struggling in the League

Manchester United currently sits 14th in the Premier League table with just 33 points from 27 matches. Meanwhile, Arsenal, who have failed to win in their last two games, are second with 54 points—13 behind league leaders Liverpool.
