Barcelona suffers major blow as Marc Casadó ruled out for two months

Despite the ongoing international break, Barcelona has been hit with a major setback. As the season nears its decisive phase, the club has lost Spanish defender Marc Casadó for two months due to a knee injury.

The 21-year-old suffered the injury during last Sunday’s La Liga match against Atlético Madrid. He was substituted in the 67th minute by coach Hansi Flick in Barcelona’s 4-2 victory at the opponent’s ground.

Following medical tests, the Catalan club released a statement on Tuesday confirming that Casadó has sustained ligament damage in his right knee. While surgery won’t be required, he will need two months to recover.

Even though international football is on pause, Casadó’s absence is a significant blow for Barcelona. He has been a key player this season, making 36 appearances across all competitions.

Barcelona remains in contention for three major titles. They currently sit at the top of La Liga, have reached the Champions League quarter-finals, and are competing in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
