Carlo Ancelotti will be without 9 players for the next match due to injuries and suspensions.
Real Madrid has been hit hard with injuries. Forward Vinícius Júnior and defender Lucas Vázquez are now sidelined after suffering injuries in the recent El Clásico.
Both players sustained injuries during Sunday’s 4-3 loss to Barcelona in La Liga. Following medical tests, Real Madrid confirmed in separate statements that Vinícius has sprained his left ankle, while Vázquez is dealing with a left thigh muscle injury. The recovery time for both players has not been specified.
Spanish media reports suggest that Vinícius will be out for about two weeks, while Vázquez may be sidelined for around 7 to 10 days. It is unlikely they will feature in the remaining three La Liga matches.
Real Madrid will face Mallorca on Wednesday, but Ancelotti will be without nine first-team players for the match due to injuries and suspensions.
Injured players include defenders Dani Carvajal, Éder Militão, David Alaba, Antonio Rüdiger, Ferland Mendy, and midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. Additionally, midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni will be unavailable due to suspension.
After the defeat in El Clásico, Real Madrid’s hopes of retaining the La Liga title are nearly over, as they now trail Barcelona by seven points. Barcelona needs just 2 points from their final three matches to secure the title.
Ancelotti will depart after the La Liga season ends. On Monday, Brazil announced that they have appointed the Italian as their new coach, and he will begin his new role on May 26.
Xabi Alonso has long been rumored to be Ancelotti’s potential successor, with media reports suggesting that Real Madrid will play in the Club World Cup under his coaching in June-July.
