The matches between Napoli vs. Cagliari and Inter Milan vs. Como have been moved forward by two days.
Italy’s top-tier league, Serie A, has made changes to the schedule for two key matches that will decide the title. Originally set to be played on Sunday as part of the final round of the season, the clashes involving Napoli-Cagliari and Inter Milan-Como will now take place on Friday. Serie A authorities announced the revised schedule on Monday, confirming both games will kick off at the same time.
These two matches will determine the Serie A champion. Napoli currently leads the table with 79 points from 23 wins and 10 draws in 37 matches. Inter sits just behind with 78 points, having won 23 games and drawn 9.
If Napoli defeats Cagliari at home, they will reclaim the title regardless of other results. Even in the event of a loss, they could still be crowned champions—if Inter fails to win against in-form Como.
If both Napoli and Inter draw their matches, Antonio Conte’s Napoli will win the title by a single point.
For Inter to defend their title, they must win their own match and hope Napoli drops points—either through a draw or a defeat to Cagliari.
If Napoli loses and Inter draws, both teams will finish with the same number of points. In that case, a playoff match will be required to determine the champion.
That potential playoff could be held on May 26. Inter is also preparing for the Champions League final, where they will face PSG on May 31.
The remaining six matches of Serie A’s final round will be played this Sunday. Napoli, Inter, and Atalanta have already secured their places in next season’s Champions League. The final spot remains up for grabs, with Juventus and Roma locked in an intense battle.
