To make the most of the September FIFA window, the National Teams Committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has already begun planning.
Amid preparations for the friendly against Bhutan and the Asian Cup qualifier against Singapore, BFF is also working on arranging a match against a European team during the September FIFA window.
The National Teams Committee, led by President Tabith Awal, held a meeting at the BFF House on Thursday. After the meeting, committee deputy chairman Imrul Hasan spoke to the media, revealing that efforts are underway to arrange an international fixture for Bangladesh between September 1 and 9.
“Bangladesh will play an international match under the FIFA tier between September 1 and 9. It could be a home or away game. If it’s away, we are keen to play in Europe. If we go to Europe, we’ll try to arrange two matches,” said Imrul Hasan.
During the same window, Bangladesh’s U-23 team will participate in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers. The draw for that tournament was held in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, placing Bangladesh in Group C alongside Vietnam, Yemen, and Singapore.
Before that, Bangladesh will face Bhutan in a friendly on June 4. Then, on June 10, the team will play against Singapore in a third-round Asian Cup qualifier at the Dhaka National Stadium.
In preparation for these crucial matches, players named in the preliminary squad have been asked to report to team manager Amer Khan by 7 PM on Friday. Among the three expatriate footballers, Fahamidul Islam has already joined the team from Italy and checked into the hotel.
Of the remaining two, Samit Som is scheduled to arrive from Canada on June 4, while Hamza Choudhury is expected to return from England between June 2 and 3.
