Simone Inzaghi firmly believes his Inter Milan side has what it takes to strike back, even though they’re up against a formidable opponent in the Champions League final.
Paris Saint-Germain are no longer a team reliant on individual brilliance. Under Luis Enrique, they’ve evolved into a well-oiled, cohesive unit—one that’s grown stronger through teamwork. Inzaghi is fully aware of the challenge his team faces, acknowledging that going up against this version of PSG will be far from easy. Still, his confidence remains unshaken. The Italian coach believes Inter are more than capable of responding with force.
Inter are heading into their second Champions League final in three years. Driven by the dream of lifting the European crown once more, they’ll face PSG in Saturday’s title clash.
The Italian side last appeared in the final during the 2022–23 season but fell short against Manchester City. Their most recent Champions League triumph came back in 2010, under the guidance of José Mourinho.
This season, Inter’s path to the final has been anything but smooth. They knocked out European powerhouses Bayern Munich and Barcelona along the way. Their gripping two-legged battle against Barça in the semifinals has already earned a place among the most epic clashes in Champions League history.
Yet despite their strong run, many still see Inter as the underdogs in this showdown. PSG, boasting the likes of Ousmane Dembélé, Achraf Hakimi, and Marquinhos, have already claimed the Ligue 1 title, the French Cup, and the French Super Cup this season—making them favorites in the eyes of many. Still, Inzaghi doesn’t see his side as second-best.
“Against Paris, we must go in knowing there will be moments when we suffer,” said Inzaghi. “But there will also be moments when we have the ball, and they’ll need to defend.”
“Small moments in the match will become crucial. We have to go in with hunger and determination. PSG are a very strong team, but we’ll play to our strengths.”
Inter’s journey has seen them take on Manchester City and Arsenal in the group stage—tough matches they managed without a single loss. After drawing with City, they defeated Arsenal, who themselves reached the semifinals.
Having come through such a challenging route has only boosted Inzaghi’s belief.
“We’ve had to go through a lot—City, Arsenal, Bayern, and Barça—but we’ve made it here, and now we don’t want to stop.”
“Every match is a big match for Inter, but a final has its own atmosphere. From that first match at City’s ground, we’ve shown we belong here. But we’re still one step away from our goal.”
PSG and Inter Milan will face off at 1:00 AM Bangladesh time on Saturday at the Allianz Arena in Munich. For PSG, this marks their second-ever appearance in a Champions League final as they chase a historic first title. Meanwhile, Inter are aiming to become European champions for a fourth time.
