The French winger who starred in Bayern Munich’s Champions League triumph has joined Saudi club Al-Nassr.
Kingsley Coman had been in fine form during Bayern Munich’s pre-season preparations, even scoring against Tottenham Hotspur just a week ago. But the 29-year-old forward is no longer a Bayern player—he has now moved to Al-Nassr.
Joining Coman adds more firepower to Al-Nassr, alongside players like João Félix and Iñigo Martínez. The French winger will link up with captain Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.
Al-Nassr announced on Friday via social media that Coman has signed a three-year deal with the club. According to German media, the transfer fee is €30 million, with an additional €5 million in add-ons.
Coman joined PSG’s academy at the age of eight and began his professional career with the club at 17. After a single season, he moved to a new challenge, joining Juventus in 2014. However, he struggled to make an impact there and was loaned to Bayern Munich the following year.
During a two-year loan spell at Bayern, Coman flourished, particularly in the 2017-18 season. Bayern secured him on a permanent deal in December of that year, marking the start of a decade-long journey that has now come to an end.
Over ten years with Bayern, Coman won 20 trophies, including nine Bundesliga titles, a Champions League, and a Club World Cup. His goal in the 2019-20 Champions League final secured the trophy for Bayern.
Recalling that iconic strike, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl said:
“By scoring in the 2020 Champions League final against PSG, King has earned an eternal place in our club’s history. He will always remain part of Bayern Munich. We wish him all the best for his new challenge.”
In total, Coman played 339 matches for Bayern, scoring 72 goals and providing 71 assists.
He has also represented the France national team 58 times. Injuries prevented him from playing in the 2018 World Cup, but he was part of the squad that finished runners-up in the last tournament.
