Arsenal 3 – 0 Nottingham Forest
In a dominant performance, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal thrashed Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal played commanding football throughout the match. Martin Ødegaard scored two brilliant goals across both halves, while Viktor Gyökeres also found the net. The win sees Arteta’s side return to winning ways against Nottingham Forest.
On Saturday at home in the English Premier League, the last three-season runners-up secured a 3-0 victory.
Since joining Arsenal this season, Ødegaard had not scored or assisted in the first three games. This time, the Spanish defensive midfielder scored twice in a single match.
His first goal was spectacular. In the 32nd minute, Arsenal’s corner wasn’t properly cleared by the visitors. Ødegaard’s bullet-speed volley from outside the box deflected off an opponent and into the net.
Although no further goals came in the first half, Arsenal registered 11 total shots, three of which were on target.
Just after the start of the second half, Gyökeres doubled the lead. Receiving a perfect pass from Emmanuel Adebayor on the right side of the box, the Swedish striker finished on his first touch. This was his third goal in an Arsenal shirt.
In the 79th minute, Ødegaard secured the victory with his second goal. Leandro Trossard’s cross found him in the box, and he headed home powerfully.
After winning the first two league matches and losing 1-0 at Liverpool before the international break, Arsenal now tops the table with nine points from four games.
