The fear has become reality. Brazil defender Gabriel Magalhães has been ruled out of the friendly against Tunisia due to injury.
This setback is also a concern for his club, Arsenal, as the English side may not have him available immediately after the international break.
Gabriel had to leave the pitch in the 64th minute during Brazil’s 2-0 friendly win over Senegal at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium last Saturday.
The Brazilian Football Federation confirmed that he sustained an injury to the muscles in his right thigh. They also stated that no replacement will be called up for the friendly against Tunisia on Tuesday.
No timeline has been provided for his return to the field.
Gabriel is a key figure for Arsenal, having become a major pillar in their defense. So far this Premier League season, the Gunners have conceded only five goals in 11 matches, with Gabriel’s solidity at the back playing a huge role.
Arsenal will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League next Sunday, followed by a Champions League clash against Bayern Munich three days later under Mikel Arteta.
