The Brazilian defender will miss his club’s next four matches.
It’s a major blow for Real Madrid as Brazilian defender Éder Militão has been sidelined due to a muscle injury.
Militão picked up the injury in the 58th minute of Brazil’s 1-1 friendly against Tunisia in Lille on Tuesday and had to leave the field. The following day, Real Madrid confirmed in a statement that the 27-year-old had sustained a muscle injury in his right leg.
The club has not officially stated how long he will be out, but Spanish media reports suggest Militão will be sidelined for at least two weeks.
As a result, he will miss Real Madrid’s next four matches against Elche, Olympiacos, Girona, and Athletic Bilbao. It is expected that he will recover in time for the crucial Champions League clash against Manchester City on December 10.
Militão has previously spent extended periods out of action over the past two years due to two anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries.
In La Liga, Real Madrid will face Elche next Sunday. Xabi Alonso’s side currently sits at the top of the league table with 31 points from 12 matches, three points ahead of second-placed Barcelona.
