Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has expressed embarrassment over his behavior.
Following his team’s defeat to Newcastle United, Guardiola admitted feeling uneasy about the way he acted towards a television cameraman. He revealed that he personally apologised to the cameraman after the incident.
City lost 2-1 at Newcastle on Saturday in an English Premier League clash.
Throughout the match, Guardiola and his coaching staff were visibly frustrated with several refereeing decisions. After the game, the Spanish coach was seen speaking somewhat animatedly with the referee, Newcastle captain Bruno Guimarães, and a cameraman.
Ahead of Monday’s press conference for the upcoming Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen, Guardiola was asked about the incident. He confirmed that he had apologised for his actions.
“Watching the footage, I felt embarrassed by my behavior. I don’t like it. Shortly after, I apologised to the cameraman,” he said.
“This is who I am. Even after coaching a thousand matches, I am not perfect. I make mistakes too. I always protect any team I coach and my club, because I want to defend my team and my club.”
