The outcome of the upcoming clash at Stamford Bridge could play a huge role in shaping the Premier League title race.
Arsenal currently sit six points clear at the top of the table and recently claimed an impressive Champions League victory over Bayern Munich. Even so, there’s no room for relaxation. Another major challenge now awaits — Chelsea. Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta hopes a win in this London derby will give his side a crucial boost in the race for the league title.
Just last Sunday, Arsenal were involved in another London derby. Ebèrechi Eze’s brilliant hat-trick helped them dominate Tottenham Hotspur, securing a 4–1 victory. Then on Wednesday, Arteta’s side followed it up with a strong 3–1 win over Bayern Munich.
Arsenal are moving forward in excellent rhythm across all competitions. So far this season, they have lost only once — a 1–0 defeat to Liverpool on October 31.
Still, the coming match is set to be a real test. Chelsea have won their last three matches, including a commanding 3–0 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League.
Chelsea also sit right behind Arsenal in the Premier League standings with 23 points from 12 matches. Arsenal lead with 29.
This makes Sunday’s head-to-head clash potentially decisive in the title race. Arteta, chasing Arsenal’s first league crown since 2004, wants to take full advantage of this moment.
“After beating Spurs, we needed to send another message against Bayern Munich, and we did that. Now we have to take on our next challenge.”
“It’s a big match, a big London derby. We’re going to face a very strong opponent, a team in great form. We know the challenge ahead of us, and we also understand the opportunity. We are fully prepared.”
The match at Stamford Bridge will kick off at 10:30 PM Bangladesh time on Sunday.
Arsenal also have a strong recent record against Chelsea, winning five of their last seven encounters. The other two meetings ended in draws — both at Stamford Bridge.
