Manchester City coach would be happy if this Portuguese midfielder stays.
Bernardo Silva is currently in the final season of his contract at Manchester City. Reports suggest several clubs are interested in signing the Portuguese midfielder. What does Pep Guardiola think about Silva’s future? The City coach said he does not discuss contract matters with the captain.
The Spanish coach has left the decision about his career up to Silva. However, Guardiola would be pleased if Silva remains at City.
Silva’s contract with City runs until June next year. According to various media outlets, Italian clubs Juventus and AC Milan are showing interest in bringing the attacking midfielder to their squads.
Whether Silva will stay at City or move elsewhere is widely discussed in English football. Ahead of City’s clash against Leeds United, Guardiola addressed the topic in his press conference, stating that he wants the best for Silva.
“I want the best from Bernardo and if he wants to stay, I will be very happy and pleased. But I don’t speak to him about this. I want the best for his family. He has been here for nine years and he will decide what is best for him.”
Since joining City in 2017, Silva has played 423 matches across all competitions, scoring 73 goals and contributing 75 assists. He has won numerous trophies, including the Premier League and the Champions League.
This season, the 31-year-old Silva has played 16 matches, scoring once and providing two assists.
Manchester City sit third in the Premier League with 22 points from 12 matches, recording seven wins and one draw.
