After his controversial remarks in the previous match, Chelsea coach Maresca’s voice now carries a message of peace.
The storm of controversy has finally calmed. The tough period has passed, and following his explosive comments, Maresca is now singing a calmer tune. The Chelsea coach insists, “I have always been happy at this club.”
Last Saturday, after Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Everton in the English Premier League—the club’s first victory in four matches—Maresca had made fiery remarks. He described the previous 48 hours as “the worst 48 hours” since joining the club, feeling that many had not supported him or the team.
He did not specify who “many” referred to, but his words stirred a stir within the club, prompting a press conference announcement from the management.
In the meantime, Chelsea reached the semi-finals of the League Cup on Tuesday with a 3-1 win over Cardiff City. Alejandro Garnacho scored twice, while Pedro Neto added another goal.
After the match, Maresca’s reaction revealed a shift from inner frustration to relief and contentment.
“I’m simply happy. We’re heading into another semi-final, which is what our supporters deserve. It was a fantastic moment. Sometimes when we don’t win, the fans are unhappy, which is normal. But overall, they are always by our side.”
“These kinds of matches make me appreciate the players even more. You can’t imagine how difficult it is to keep your feet grounded in such high-pressure games. Matches like these are always risky.”
Maresca also insisted that he had not spoken to any club officials following the earlier controversial comments.
“I haven’t talked to anyone, no… no problem. I’ve always said it, I’ve been happy here from day one. It’s not that I’m only happy today.”
