Barcelona coach Hansie Flick can breathe a sigh of relief at the prospect of having the team’s top scorer available this season.
With no option but to win to secure a spot in the Champions League Round of 16, Ferran Torres has returned to Barcelona training ahead of such a crucial clash against Copenhagen.
In Europe’s premier competition, Barcelona sit ninth with 13 points from seven matches, including four wins and one draw. Coincidentally, the three teams above them and the four teams below them also have 13 points each.
The final group-stage match will take place at Camp Nou on Wednesday, starting at 2:00 AM Bangladesh time against Copenhagen.
All matches in this round kick off simultaneously, leaving no room for tactical calculations based on other results. Barcelona must play with the goal of a decisive victory.
The top eight teams in the group table advance directly to the Round of 16. Teams ranked ninth to twenty-fourth enter a two-legged playoff, with the eight winners filling the remaining Round of 16 spots.
Ahead of this challenging mission, there is some welcome news for Barcelona. Their top scorer this season, Torres, has recovered from a muscle injury and trained with the team on Tuesday. He had missed the 4–2 Champions League win over Slavia Prague and the 3–0 La Liga victory against Real Oviedo last Sunday.
The forward has already scored 15 goals across all competitions this season, and Barcelona will be eager to have him available against Copenhagen.
