Atalanta 1 – 1 Juventus
Weston McKennie made a key contribution for Juventus once again, but his side was unable to hold on to their lead, settling for a 1-1 draw against Atalanta.
The match saw a quiet first half with neither team looking particularly dangerous. However, McKennie, playing in a more natural No. 10 role instead of his usual full-back position, provided the spark for Juventus. In the second half, McKennie delivered a perfect assist for Pierre Kalulu, who calmly finished past the goalkeeper to give Juve a 1-0 lead.
The Bianconeri tried to protect their advantage, defending solidly for 77 minutes. But in the 78th minute, Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui capitalized on an awkward cross, reacting first to head the ball past Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, leveling the score at 1-1.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
This match continued McKennie’s solid form, as he has been one of Juventus’ most consistent performers, adapting to multiple roles throughout the season. On the other hand, fellow USMNT player Tim Weah, who has struggled to find a regular spot under manager Thiago Motta, remained an unused substitute.
