Match Summary
Tottenham, who had edged the first leg 1-0, were on the back foot for most of the game. They managed just five shots, none of which were on target, while Liverpool fired 26 shots, with 10 on target.
As expected, Liverpool controlled possession and pressed aggressively from the start. In the first 30 minutes, they took seven shots, two of which were on target, but failed to seriously test Tottenham’s goalkeeper.
The breakthrough came in the 34th minute. Salah’s cross from the right found Gakpo, who calmly slotted home with his first touch to make it 1-0 (1-1 on aggregate).
Just before halftime (44th minute), Liverpool nearly doubled their lead. Salah’s volley from the left took a slight deflection off the keeper’s fingertips before hitting the crossbar, sparing Tottenham.
Second Half
Liverpool maintained their attacking momentum after the break. In the 49th minute, Darwin Núñez burst into the box and was brought down by the keeper, earning a penalty. Salah stepped up and converted with a composed spot-kick, putting Liverpool firmly in control.
In the 63rd minute, Liverpool came close again. Gakpo’s powerful shot struck the far post. Just 10 minutes later, Ryan Gravenberch also saw his effort denied by the post.
After missing multiple chances, Szoboszlai finally made it 3-0 in the 75th minute. Conor Bradley played a clever pass, and the Hungarian midfielder controlled it before slotting a precise finish into the net.
Tottenham almost responded in the 78th minute, but Son Heung-min’s shot hit the crossbar. Moments later, Liverpool sealed the game with a Virgil van Dijk header from a corner, making it 4-0.
