Gianni Infantino believes it will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup.
The long-standing tradition of the FIFA World Cup is about to be broken. For the first time ever, FIFA, the governing body of world football, has decided to organize a “show” during the halftime of the upcoming World Cup final.
The 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The title-deciding match will take place on July 19, 2026, in New Jersey, USA.
In a similar fashion to how the National Football League (NFL) hosts a “show” during the Super Bowl halftime, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed that something similar will be done during the World Cup final.
Typically, there is a 15-minute break during football matches. Infantino did not comment on whether this time would be extended for the “show” during the 2026 World Cup final.
On Instagram, Infantino mentioned that a few artists would perform during the event.
“I can confirm that for the first time, there will be a halftime show at the FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey,” he said.
“This will be a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup, and an event worthy of the world’s biggest sporting competition.”
