According to reports from English media, it seems unlikely that Wesley Fofana will feature in the upcoming Club World Cup.
Fofana’s hamstring surgery has been successful, and various English outlets report that the defender will not play again for Chelsea this season. The chances of him playing in this year’s Club World Cup are also very slim.
Chelsea confirmed on Saturday that the 24-year-old Fofana will begin his rehabilitation process soon.
After a long absence due to a muscle injury, Fofana returned to action earlier this month. However, after just two matches, he was struck by another injury, this time forcing him to miss an even longer period of time.
So far this season, Fofana has only managed to play 14 matches for Chelsea, all of which have been in the Premier League. Since joining the club in 2022, the French defender has played only 34 matches across all competitions.
Chelsea, currently in fourth place in the Premier League, will face Brentford on Sunday.
