Mahfuzur Rahman was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 3 September 1973. He is a cricket umpire who handles matches at various levels, including domestic first-class and list-a fixtures in Bangladesh. On the international stage, his career features six one-day internationals and six twenty20 internationals, all spanned between 2012 and 2023.
Domestic Twenty20 cricket brings him plenty of high-pressure moments in the Bangladesh Premier League. He has officiated in the tournament since 2012, accumulating 34 matches by the 2017-18 season.
Life in the middle brings sharp friction at times. During the 2017 Bangladesh Premier League, the Sylhet Sixers lodged a complaint against him for a seven-ball over bowled by Kamrul Islam caused by a counting error, and the team eventually lost the match. In the same tournament, player Sabbir Rahman faced a penalty for abusing Mahfuzur Rahman after receiving an lbw decision.
