Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard won’t be seen in Norway colors for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Arsenal midfielder has withdrawn from the national squad after suffering a knee injury, ruling him out of Norway’s crucial qualifying matches.
Arsenal confirmed the news in an official statement.
Ødegaard picked up the injury during Saturday’s 2-0 win against West Ham. Though he tried to continue playing, the 25-year-old was forced to leave the pitch after just 30 minutes.
During the international break, Norway are set to face Israel in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday, followed by a friendly against World Cup-bound New Zealand on October 14.
The Arsenal skipper has been battling injuries this season. He injured his shoulder against Leeds United in August — an issue that resurfaced in September during the match against Nottingham Forest.
