Macclesfield’s young right winger Ethan McLeod has tragically passed away at the age of 21.
McLeod lost his life in a road accident while returning from a match. The English winger had featured for Macclesfield, a club in the sixth tier of English football, in their recent National League North clash against Bedford Town last Tuesday. He came on as a substitute in the 2-1 victory.
After the match, McLeod was driving home when his Mercedes-Benz collided with a metal barrier near Northampton.
McLeod joined the Wolverhampton Wanderers academy at the age of seven and progressed through their youth teams before signing with Macclesfield in July this year.
The club has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their promising young talent.
