United Coach Wants ‘Transformed’ Garnacho to Stay at Old Trafford
After being left out of the squad for last month’s match against Manchester City, Alejandro Garnacho’s mindset has undergone a noticeable change, according to Ruben Amuri. The Manchester United coach is pleased with the transformation and wants the young Argentine winger to continue his development at Old Trafford.
Garnacho came on as a substitute in the second half of the Europa League match against Steaua Bucharest, which United won 2-0. The 20-year-old played a key role in setting up the team’s second goal during Thursday night’s game.
Although United coach Amuri isn’t currently considering Marcus Rashford, who is sidelined, he is giving Garnacho significant attention due to his improved attitude.
“He’s completely changed since the City match,” said Amuri. “He understands the situation now and knows that I only want to help him. I want to win matches. He’s changed everything. The way he recovers after a match, his mentality – it’s all different now.”
“He’s realized that sometimes I can be a different kind of coach, and I expect certain things from him in my way. I believe Garnacho has all the qualities, and he’s improving. We want to continue progressing with him.”
Various reports in the media had suggested that the Argentine winger might leave, with Chelsea reportedly interested. However, Amuri’s words make it clear that Garnacho will be staying at Old Trafford.
Next up, Manchester United will face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.
Amuri’s side sits 12th with 29 points from 23 matches, while Crystal Palace, with 27 points, is just behind them in 13th.
