According to La Liga president Javier Tebas, Real Madrid often complains about refereeing whenever they lose.
Tebas, frustrated with Real Madrid’s repeated complaints about refereeing, has now strongly criticized the Spanish champions. In his view, the club is “crying” and making up “false stories.”
Real Madrid’s dissatisfaction with refereeing in Spanish football has been ongoing for a long time, but it has intensified recently. In the first 15 days of this month, the club played three La Liga matches but failed to win a single one. In each of those three matches, they voiced complaints about the refereeing.
After losing 1-0 to Espanyol, they filed a written complaint, sending an open letter to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and Spain’s Sports Ministry (CSD), accusing the match officials of “fraud” and “corruption.”
Criticizing Real Madrid’s actions, Tebas had previously said that the club had lost control. In an interview with Europa Press on Monday, Tebas revisited the topic and made even harsher comments.
“As a Real Madrid supporter, I am ashamed of what has been happening,” he said. “They are crying and creating a story that isn’t true. They are acting as if there’s a global conspiracy against them. They are trying to push the entire Real Madrid camp into a conspiracy theory with no real basis.”
According to Tebas, Real Madrid complains about refereeing every time they lose.
“If they win, they claim they’ve fought against evil forces. And if they lose, it’s because of a referee conspiracy. This is disrespectful to the other clubs,” he added.
With 54 points from 25 matches, the defending champions Real Madrid are in second place in La Liga, tied on points with Barcelona, who lead on goal difference.
