Midfielder Éderson and defender Beraldo have been called up for Brazil’s World Cup qualifier.
After first-choice goalkeeper Alisson was ruled out, Brazil coach Dorival Júnior included Weverton in the squad. For the crucial match against Argentina, midfielders João Gomes and Éderson, along with defender Beraldo, have also been added.
Brazil will face the reigning world champions on Wednesday morning (Bangladesh time).
Argentina will be missing key players like Lionel Messi and Paulo Dybala, meaning they won’t have a full-strength squad. Brazil, too, is dealing with setbacks—Neymar was already out, and after the Colombia match, both Alisson and midfielder Gerson suffered injuries. Additionally, Gabriel Magalhães and Bruno Guimarães are suspended for the next game due to card accumulation.
The four newly called-up players were part of the preliminary squad. After missing the Colombia match, they now have a chance to play in Argentina.
Midfielder Gerson had to leave the field in the first half against Colombia, while experienced goalkeeper Alisson suffered a head injury in the second half. Following Brazil’s 2-1 win over Colombia, Alisson is returning to Liverpool.
With the victory over Colombia, Brazil has climbed to second place in the standings with 21 points from 13 matches. Argentina remains at the top with 25 points from one game fewer.
