A night of dominance in Munich saw Paris Saint-Germain write history with a flurry of records and milestones. Here’s a breakdown of the key moments.
Before the final, many tipped PSG as favorites against three-time European champions Inter Milan. But no one quite expected the gulf to be this wide. Under Luis Enrique’s leadership, this youthful Paris side took control from the first whistle to the last, completely outclassing Inter and lifting their first-ever UEFA Champions League title.
In the final at Munich’s Allianz Arena on Saturday night, Désiré Doué led the way with “two goals and an assist”, while fellow teenager Senny found the net just two minutes after coming on. With goals also from Achraf Hakimi and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, PSG sealed a dominant 5-0 victory, making it a historic night for the club after 54 years of waiting.
This was the biggest margin of victory in a Champions League final. Previously, the record was a four-goal win—achieved only four times by clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and AC Milan (twice).
Here are the other standout records and achievements from PSG’s memorable night:
PSG became the 11th men’s team to win a continental treble, having already secured Ligue 1 and the French Cup this season. They also won the French Super Cup earlier in January. This makes them the first French men’s team to achieve a treble, though Lyon’s women’s team has done it five times before.
PSG became the 24th club in European Cup/Champions League history to lift the trophy.
This victory ended France’s 29-year wait for a major European title in men’s club football. The last French success came in 1996, when PSG won the Cup Winners’ Cup.
PSG became the second French club to win the Champions League after Marseille in 1993. Coincidentally, both finals were played in Munich.
Luis Enrique also became the second coach to win the continental treble with two different clubs. He previously did it with Barcelona in 2014–15. Only Pep Guardiola had achieved that before, with Barça and Manchester City.
19 years, 362 days
“Désiré Doué made a sensational entrance on the biggest stage.” He became the first teenager to score two goals in a Champions League final, and the first player since 1964 to register two goals and an assist in the final.
Only two players have scored in a final at a younger age:
- Patrick Kluivert (18y 327d, Ajax in 1995)
- Carlos Alberto (19y 167d, Porto in 2004)
Doué also became the first French player to score a brace in a European Cup final, and the first since Gareth Bale in 2018 to score two goals in a Champions League final.
19 years, 14 days
Doué’s compatriot Senny Mayulu scored at just 19 years and 14 days, making him the third-youngest scorer in a European Cup final.
With Doué and Mayulu both scoring, PSG became the first club in history to have two teenagers score in a European Cup final.
Also, Achraf Hakimi became the first player to score in a final against his former team.
Luis Enrique became just the sixth coach to win the Champions League with two different clubs.
This was Inter Milan’s biggest defeat in 25 years, their previous worst coming in a 6-0 loss to AC Milan in 2001. It was also their heaviest defeat ever in European Cup history.
This was the fifth Champions League final held in Munich, and every time, it’s crowned a new champion:
- 1979: Nottingham Forest
- 1993: Marseille
- 1997: Borussia Dortmund
- 2012: Chelsea
- 2025: PSG
