Barbastro 0 – 4 Barcelona
Hansi Flick’s Barcelona started the new year in style, securing a dominant 4-0 victory away against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey Round of 32. With this expected win, Barca comfortably advanced to the Round of 16.
Unlike their close 3-2 encounter with Barbastro in last season’s Round of 32, this time Barcelona showed no signs of struggle. Despite their recent dip in form, they played commanding football, leaving the fourth-division side with no chance.
Match Highlights
Barcelona took control from the start and scored two goals in each half. Robert Lewandowski played a key role with a brace, while Pablo Torre and Eric García added to the tally.
The opening goal came in the 21st minute when Frenkie de Jong’s cross found Ronald Araújo, whose header set up Eric García for a finish that left the Barbastro goalkeeper helpless.
Ten minutes later, Lewandowski doubled the lead. Pablo Torre’s free kick created a scramble in the box, and the Polish striker’s header, deflected off a Barbastro defender, found the net.
Leading 2-0 at halftime, Barcelona wasted no time extending their advantage. Just two minutes into the second half, Lewandowski calmly finished after receiving a perfectly timed through pass from Torre.
Barbastro suffered a setback in the 54th minute when Jaime Ara Sauco had to be stretchered off after a head collision with Barça’s Iñigo Martínez while attempting a header.
Two minutes later, Pablo Torre made it 4-0. A poor back pass from Barbastro’s goalkeeper Arnau Fabrega allowed Torre to intercept and calmly slot the ball into the net, sealing Barcelona’s emphatic win.
